SILVERSTONE, ENGLAND – Lando Norris leads another McLaren 1-2 finish, with teammate Oscar Piastri finishing second and Nico Hülkenberg’s taking third, his first podium of his career. Formula 2, Formula 3, and British F4 also joined in for the weekend at the Silverstone circuit.

British F4

For the first time in motorsport history, four classifications of formula racing took to the track to race at one event. 20 British F4 Championship drivers were featured in the non-points-scoring round as a support bill to the British Grand Prix.

Across both Race 1 and Race 2, Virtuosi Racing driver Salim Hanna brought home astounding victories, with Race 1 being a lights-to-flag win. The opening race saw the Argenti Motorsport driver Ethan Jeff-Hall and Hitech TGR’s Fionn McLaughlin finish second and third respectively. In Race 2, Chris Dittmann Racing driver Tommy Harfield and JHR Developments driver Rowan Campbell-Pilling joined Hanna on the podium.

Formula 3

Formula 3 drivers joined in the Silverstone weekend to mark the seventh round of the championship. In the Sprint Race, Campos Racing’s Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak became the first Thai driver to win a Formula 3 race, taking it to the chequered flag after starting from reverse grid pole. Hitech TGR’s Martinius Stenshorne finished second after starting P6 while Campos Racing driver Mari Boya rounded off the podium in third.

Through the poor weather conditions and red flags, Mari Boya earned his first Feature Race victory in Formula 3. The Campos Racing driver finished ahead of Van Amersfoort Racing driver Théophile Nael, who finished second, and Noel Léon for PREMA Racing in third.

Formula 2

In the Formula 2 Sprint Race, Leonardo Fornaroli dominated his maiden Formula 2 victory. The Invicta Racing driver lost the lead in the beginning but took it back from Kush Maini quickly before going off to claim the win. Sebastián Montoya, who

started from P6, came through to finish second for PREMA Racing, as Roman Stanek made it two Invicta cars on the podium in third.

In the Feature Race, DAMS Lucas Oil driver Jak Crawford commanded the grid to win a rain-affected Silverstone Feature Race. Crawford took the lead at the start from P3 and held off Alexander Dunne till the end, where Dunne finished second for Rodin Motorsport. Luke Browning finished astoundingly in third, rounding off the podium, after working through the field from P12.

Formula 1

Amidst the poor weather conditions and multiple red flags, McLaren dominated the field once again, with Lando Norris leading the charge and taking his first home win victory of his career. Though Red Bull’s Max Verstappen started from pole, McLaren driver Oscar Piastri swiftly took this from him amid the heavy rain and several safety regulations. Unfortunately, Piastri’s lead was only temporary after receiving a ten-second penalty for braking suddenly under a safety car restart.

In the end, Norris was able to bring home the win, holding P2 until Piastri had to serve his penalty which dropped him to second. In a surprising result, Kick Sauber’s Nico Hülkenberg climbed from P19 on the grid to claim his first podium in third place on his 239th Grand Prix start, holding off a potential challenge from Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton, who settled for fourth. After a safety car restart, Verstappen spun out on track and dropped down to tenth but recovered to fifth in the end and Pierre Gasly claimed a solid sixth place for Alpine. Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll was seventh, having just lost out on sixth to Gasly in the final lap, with Alex Albon taking eighth for Williams. The other Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso crossed the line in ninth, while George Russell picked up the last point for Mercedes in tenth.

Formula 1 will race again alongside Formula 2 and Formula 3 in the Belgian Grand Prix from 25th-27th of July.
