SPIELBERG, AUSTRIA – Lando Norris leads the McLaren team in a 1-2 finish, with teammate Oscar Piastri finishing second and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc rounding off the podium. Formula 2 and Formula 3 also joined in for the weekend at the Red Bull Ring.

Formula 3

Formula 3 drivers took to the track after a three-week hiatus to mark the sixth round of the championship. In the Sprint, ART Grand Prix rookie, James Wharton brought home his first ever FIA Formula 3 win – converting pole to win. Though Alessandro Giusti continuously fought Wharton for the lead, he settled for second. PREMA Racing’s Ugo Ugochukwu finished in third to achieve his maiden F3 podium.

Campos Racing driver Nikola Tsolov dominated the Feature Race the following day, his second pole to podium victory of the season. Tsolov had a brilliant start off the line and was able to build a six-second gap to his competitor in P2, Martinius Stenshorne. The Hitech TGR driver fought well for this place, coming up from P15 on the grid, while Tim Tramnitz produced a similar performance to go from 17th to the final spot on the podium for MP Motorsport. Tsolov now closes the gap to one point of the Championship leader, Rafael Câmara.

Formula 2

In the Formula 2 Sprint Race, Josep María Martí won his second race of the season for Campos Racing. Lap 2 of the session saw a multi-car collision between Luke Browning, Arvid Lindblad and Sami Meguetounif, leaving the TRIDENT car upside down. Amid other drama on the track, Martí was able to navigate past this red flag and his competitors, moving up to P1 in the final five laps. The AIX Racing driver Joshua Duerksen finished where he started in P2, while Invicta Racing’s Roman Stanek finished in third.

In the Feature Race, MP Motorsport’s Richard Verschoor claimed his third race win of the season, now taking the lead of the Drivers’ Championship. The Dutch driver came through from third on the grid, eventually taking the lead and dominating from the front. Alexander Dunne moved from seventh to second for Rodin Motorsport, while pole-sitter Leonardo Fornaroli rounded off the podium.

Formula 1

In a domineering performance for McLaren, Lando Norris converted pole position into a win, leading teammate Oscar Piastri and Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc.

Though initially starting P3 off the line, Oscar Piastri was able to make an early overtake in Turn 1 to Leclerc and maintain the position throughout the race. Max Verstappen, started in P7, unfortunately retired prematurely due to a collision with Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli – taking both out of the race. Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton held P4 for the entirety of the race along with Mercedes’ George Russell finishing P5. Red Bull Racing’s Liam Lawson placed sixth, his best finish of the season, ahead of Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso in seventh. Kick Sauber had a great performance, with rookie Gabriel Bortoleto scoring his first points in eighth and Nico Hülkenberg in ninth. Haas driver Esteban Ocon rounded off the top ten, scoring one point.

Formula 1 will race again alongside Formula 2, Formula 3 and British F4 in the British Grand Prix this weekend, from 4th-6th of July. This will mark the first time in motorsport history for four classifications of formula racing to compete at the same event.
