BUDAPEST, HUNGARY – Lando Norris held off Oscar Piastri in a close battle to lead another dominant McLaren 1-2, with George Russell finishing third for Mercedes. It capped off a packed weekend at the Hungaroring, where Formula 2 and Formula 3 also delivered plenty of action. In F3, Rafael Câmara sealed the 2025 Drivers’ Championship in the penultimate round with another commanding performance.
Formula 3
The Formula 3 grid returned to action in Budapest, Hungary for the penultimate round of the 2025 season. The Sprint Race saw Campos Racing’s Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak claim his second win of the season in a tense sprint to the line. A late Safety Car bunched up the field, setting the stage for a one-lap shootout. Inthraphuvasak held firm under pressure from PREMA’s Ugo Ugochukwu, who had to settle for second. Charlie Wurz snatched the final podium spot for TRIDENT with a bold move on the last lap to take third.
In the Feature Race, Rafael Câmara sealed the 2025 Formula 3 Drivers’ Championship in a dominant fashion. Starting from pole, the PREMA driver led every lap to secure his fourth win of the season and wrap up the title with one round to spare. Mari Boya brought home a strong second-place finish for Campos Racing, while Tuukka Taponen delivered a composed drive to take third for ART Grand Prix.
Formula 2
In Formula 2, Josep María Martí claimed an impressive third win of the season in Saturday’s Sprint Race. Starting from pole, the Campos Racing driver fended off a fierce final-lap challenge from Alexander Dunne, with the two running wheel-to-wheel through the closing corners. Martí held his ground under pressure and crossed the line first, while Dunne finished just behind in second. Jak Crawford made a decisive move in the final moments, overtaking Arvid Lindblad on the last lap to secure third for DAMS Lucas Oil.
It was a day to remember for Leonardo Fornaroli, who claimed his first FIA Formula 2 victory in Sunday’s Feature Race. The Invicta Racing driver led a dominant one-two finish for the team, with Roman Stanek following in second. Despite receiving a five-second time penalty for pit lane speeding, Fornaroli managed the race expertly and built a big enough gap to maintain the lead. Jak Crawford claimed another podium for DAMS Lucas Oil, finishing third after a consistent drive.
Formula 1
Lando Norris claimed victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix after fending off a late-race charge from teammate Oscar Piastri, making an alternate one-stop strategy successful. The McLaren duo delivered another 1-2, with Norris crossing the line just 0.698s ahead.
Charles Leclerc, who started from pole, led early on from Piastri; however, both drivers’ two-stop strategies saw them fall behind Norris in the final stint. Leclerc’s pace faded late in the race, while Piastri made up ground to catch up to Norris, but ultimately could not pass him. George Russell took third for Mercedes after overtaking a struggling Leclerc, who dropped to fourth and received a five-second penalty for erratic driving during their battles.

In between the teammates, rookie Gabriel Bortoleto placed an impressive sixth for Kick Sauber. Liam Lawson was eighth for Racing Bulls, ahead of Max Verstappen, who endured a tough race to finish ninth.
