ALEX PALOU IMPRESSES AGAIN IN ALABAMA

BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA- Alex Palou rises back to the top, in another dominant showing at the Children’s of Alabama IndyCar Grand Prix.

The fourth race of the 2025 NTT INDYCAR SERIES saw the season progress into its second quarter, as the drivers embarked upon the 17-turn Alabama grand prix circuit. The first of the 90 laps proved to be steady, as the top two rows retained their starting positions, with Alex Palou leading Scott McLaughlin in second, and Colton Herta in third.

By the third lap Palou had created a 1.1 second gap over McLaughlin who started in P2, which was extended to an impressive 16- second victory as he cruised to the chequered f lag. Palou was overjoyed to pick up his third victory of the season and commended the car’s outstanding speed. The Chip Ganassi driver was relieved to get back to the top of the podium, after he was held off by Kyle Kirkwood at Long beach in April.

Kirkwood, on the other hand, failed to sneak into the top 10 for the first time this season, despite climbing an impressive 7 positions from his P18 start.

Palou’s dominance on pole seemed unchallenged for the majority of the race, but Lungaard’s ascent from P12 to finish behind the leader was an impressive feat in the second half of the race. Nonetheless, Lungaard trails Palou by 60 points in the championship standings. Having started in P2, Scott McClaughlin stayed close to the leader through the opening few laps, however as the race progressed, the Penske driver fell to a 7-second gap from Lungaard, reaching the chequered flag in P3.

Swiftly moving onto the Sonsio Grand Prix up next, Alex Palou will be keen to continue challenging for the victory and build on his already impressive lead at the top of the championship standings. Christian Lungaard sits 60 points behind Palou in second, with Kyle Kirkwood only 9 points adrift in third.

Round 5 of the 2025 NTT INDYCAR SERIES gets underway on Friday 9th May, with the Sonsio Grand Prix in Indianapolis, Indiana.
